Welcome to Corners of the World Inc.   We are a wholesale gift company that takes pride in our relationships with our customers. Our mission is to offer products to our customers that are well priced and entertaining.  For the past half century, we have continually adjusted and adapted our product lines to the ever changing needs and trends in the market place.

Corners of the World’s roots go back to 1955.  Two sisters, Lucy Maxym and Nadia Wedeen started a small family business called Siamese Imports which imported jewelry and handicrafts from Thailand (formerly known as Siam).  Over the years the company grew and became more diverse.  Their importing of beautiful handcrafted products from all over the globe, established the company as an excellent resource for quality, unique gift items.  Items were imported from India, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, Korea, France, Italy and the Soviet Union.  During the 1970’s and 1980’s Russian lacquer boxes became the mainstay of the company.  The Lucy Maxym Collection established itself as the worldwide brand for this exquisite art form.  In late 1993, Mrs. Maxym retired and sold the business to her nephew, and current owner, Andrew Cykman.  At that point, the company name was changed to “Corners of the World Inc.” to better reflect the diversity of the products that were offered.

The next few years saw an exciting new evolution take place in the company.  A gradual shift from the seriousness of lacquer boxes to a lighter, more fun, line of products took place.  The company’s aim was to bring to market items that would make the consumer “smile”.  While the metamorphosis of the product line has been great, the philosophy of the company, and its employees, remains the same.  We continue to maintain values traditionally associated with a family business.  Our company prides itself on our dedication to our customers and ability to offer quality products at reasonable prices.

In our Kids Corner and Novelty Pens sections you will find items that are sure to delight and educate as well.  Many of our educational toys help improve fine motor skills, spatial relations and problem solving.  Keeping kids busy and happy is great… helping them open their minds at the same time is even better!

In our Executive Gifts section we strive to offer products that will have our adult customers smiling as well!  (After all we grown-ups need to be amused sometimes too.)  We have a great selection of new and interesting men’s gifts which has traditionally been a very difficult category for retailers.
